‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ Kids To Star In Their Own Web Series

By Megan O'Neill

Charlie Bit My Finger is the most successful homemade viral video of all time.  The video has been viewed over 486 million times since it was uploaded to YouTube in 2007, has been featured in commercials, television shows, and parodied and remixed without end.  And the ride isn’t even close to being over.  Today news hit the press that Charlie and his brother Harry are getting their own web series.

Rightster Studios has partnered with Viral Spiral  to produce, distribute and monetize a new original series starring Charlie and Harry Davies-Car.  According to PaidContent,  “The new show will be a more professionally-produced, piece-to-camera affair from the brothers.”

Viral Spiral CEO Damien Collier said, “We’ve taken the lead of their dad.  We don’t apply any pressure – quite the opposite.  There’s always been a desire from the boys and their father to do more.  They have a lot of home movies already online.  The boys are naturals in front of the camera and wanted to do more.”  The initiative will take on a few different formats, including a viral video review show called Kings Of YouTube.  Collier adds, “The intention is to sell sponsorship around advertising.  Once we have a format that’s successful, we absolutely want to take it on to TV.”

Charlie Muirhead, CEO of Rightster, said of the partnership in a press release, “We’re excited to be playing such a key role in the development of original content and programming at this pivotal time in the digital entertainment industry.  Rightster Studios enables producers of all sizes to create the next generation of engaging online video programming, and we look forward to working with Viral Spiral to successfully distribute and monetize new, original content based on the existing strength of the ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ brand.”
