Beam me up, Scotty!
The one and only Captain Kirk was tweeting, real-time, with an astronaut in outer space this past week.
Actor William Shatner, the Canadian actor who portrayed the iconic captain of the Starship Enterprise on TV’s “Star Trek,” hailed Canada’s soon-to-be first space station commander on Twitter to find out the latest news from orbit.
Shortly thereafter, Hadfield responded from the International Space Station:
Buzz Aldrin got in on the convo, too:
As of today, Hadfield has 85,000 Twitter followers, and growing. That’s because, right now, he is the only human being through which you can experience outer space in real-time, yourself. Check out a few of his recent tweets:
While in space, Hadfield also used his Twitter account to unveil the first original song recorded in space (his tune “Jewel in the Night”) last week. Pretty freakin’ cool.
Hadfield is due to return to Earth in mid-May.
