The Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Jennifer Stoddart, voiced concerns last month over Facebook’s compliance with Canadian privacy laws after a report by the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic was critical of some of Facebook’s practices. At the time, Facebook said several of the issues have already been resolved, and that additional updates would be coming soon to “address any remaining concerns.”
Now, after a month of “discussion and negotiations with Facebook,” Stoddart is planning to hold a news conference this morning to announce the actions it and Facebook are taking. Stoddart’s office has previously said they have concerns with the complexity of Facebook’s privacy settings, how Facebook handles deleted accounts, and application security. We’ll let you know what changes have come about when they’re announced.
