The latest development in the online group coupon trend is charitable spending. Deal provider CauseOn launched today with the motto “See, eat and do for less all while giving more.” Starting September 1, shoppers can feel good about themselves not only for helping each other save money, but also for contributing to the common good.

The idea of using these types of social coupons to give back isn’t new. Groupon has been a particularly successful company in this field, and they introduced the G-Team this summer to demonstrate their philanthropy.
