A CBS poll released today found that 57 percent of respondents don’t think that “heated” political rhetoric prompted the shooting in Arizona this weekend that killed six people and wounded 14, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. CBS conducted the telephone poll January 9 and 10, surveying 673 adults.
The survey also found that political affiliation has an impact on whether people make the connection. Sixty-nine percent of Republicans said the two are unrelated. Forty-nine percent of Democrats and 56 percent of Independents agreed.
