Our colleagues over at AllTwitter have written a post stating that Twitter is the better social media platform for journalists largely because it’s a fast and easy way to get news out and to leverage a network.
Twitter definitely has its advantages in terms of speed and distribution. And it can be used to reach people effectively in a variety of situations (check out the post we did with AllTwitter’s Lauren Dugan with a list of pointers to avoid/clean up a GE-style Twitter mishap).
But we suggested that Facebook allows publicists to go into further detail to tell a story, promote a campaign, and engage further with target audiences through feedback and other programs. So especially for initiatives or outreach that build loyalty and share news and information with more depth, Facebook is the better choice.
