MSNBC PR Chief Returns to the White House After Less Than 7 Months
Rachel Racusen will be a strategic comms advisor for the Obama administration.
Back in November, this blog and Politico broke the news that Rachel Racusen, associate communications director at The White House, would be moving to MSNBC to serve as VP of comms.
At the time, the network’s president Phil Griffin wrote that Racusen was “passionate about our brand,” though her hiring led certain commenters to make insinuations about connections between MSNBC and the Obama administration.
This morning, Politico’s Dylan Byers reports that Racusen will be headed back to the White House as a strategic comms advisor after spending less than seven months in the MSNBC role.
From an internal email by White House comms director Jen Psaki:
“[W]e have convinced Rachel Racusen to come back…In this new role, Racusen will be responsible for working with the Communications staff to help manage long-term communications projects including close coordination with our digital team, working closely with WH components and engaging with outside groups and allies.”
