Dana Perino Leaving Burson-Marsteller To Start "Strategic Communications" Company

Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino is parting ways with Burson-Marsteller. In a 5280 magazine cover story, Perino says:

I’m going to part ways, very amicably, with Burson at the end of the year and will start my own company and have more time for the speaking, writing, strategic communications work I want/need to do.

5280 is dubbed “Denver’s magazine.” Perino grew up in the city.

After joining Burson-Marsteller this past April as “Chief Issues Counselor,” Perino was also named a contributor to Fox News in May. She is contracted to work at Burson “27 and a half hours a week (though she often doubles that),” reports 5280‘s Robert Sanchez.

UPDATE: A Burson-Marsteller spokesperson tells PRNewser, “Dana Perino is going to continue her association with the firm, while starting up her own boutique firm and continuing her media and speaking commitments. She will continue to work on current clients and be available for future assignments. Burson-Marsteller is the only large PR firm with which she will be working. She has served our clients extremely well and will continue to do so in this new role.”
