For months, the talk surrounding the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has revolved around the never-ending string of problems plaguing the big-budget production. After months of ongoing previews (the show is now scheduled to open on March 15 and could break the record for the number of preview performances), a dozen critics finally went ahead and reviewed the show. Many of them were not raves.
“This pile-on by the critics is a huge disappointment,” Rick Miramontez, the show’s spokesperson, told the New York Times. “Changes are still being made, and any review that runs before the show is frozen is totally invalid.”
Besides this week’s reviews, theater-goers and the media have been reporting on the problems the show has had for some time. And, of course, social networks have been opinion-filled. Haven’t read all of the reviews? No need. The YouTube video above sums it up.
