Donald Trump has finally answered the question that just about nobody was actually asking: Will he run for president?
It turns out he won't.
The announcement came this morning on the day that NBC announced its fall TV lineup at its annual upfronts.
"After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the presidency," Trump wrote in a statement released to the press.
A recent poll by the website Politico and George Washington University had suggested that more than two-thirds of Americans (71 percent) think the business mogul has "no chance" of ever winning the White House.
The Donald, even in bowing out, would beg to differ.
"I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election," his statement goes on. "I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion, and I am not ready to leave the private sector."
Business may be his greatest passion, but generating a little publicity would apparently come in a close second.
