What’s the first information you consume in the morning?
Email. My computer is usually close at hand. If I’m going to work, the first media I probably consume is music in my car.

How do you listen to music?
I do Spotify. Every once in a while I’ll do satellite radio comedy channels, too. There’s a bunch of them—Comedy Central, Raw Dog, and Jamie Foxx has one.

How do you get your news?
Usually through links that people send me. My girl [fiancée and Mad Men co-star Alexis Bledel] reads a lot of news stories, so she’ll send me interesting factoids. But I’m not a big news junkie. I used to get my news from The Daily Show.

I’ve read that you’re pretty anti-Twitter. Is that still the case?
I don’t know if I’m anti-Twitter—more that I usually try to make jokes and fail. But I just don’t understand Twitter. Once in a while, I’ll look something up, and the first few links will be to Twitter—and I’ll click on it, and I won’t know what I’m looking at.

So do you do any social media at all? Even for work?
No. I know some other networks and studios want their people to do that, but AMC, Lionsgate and [showrunner] Matthew Weiner have never asked me to.

What TV shows do you watch?
I just watched House of Lies, and I’m watching True Detective right now. When I started watching True Detective last week, for some reason I thought that Episode 7 was Episode 1, and I watched the whole thing thinking, “This is an interesting way to start a show.” I finally went back to the menu and realized, “Oh, OK. That’s why it was so odd.”

Do you watch shows as they air or are you a binge-watcher?
I do what most people do nowadays where you watch a few episodes every couple of days. But for True Detective, it’s hard to watch more than two or three in a row because it’s so dark.

Your house in L.A. has been featured in a lot of design blogs and magazines. Are you really into interior design?
Not really—I’m more into small spaces. I’m into the idea of making a space livable that isn’t gigantic. It’s easy to clean, you never lose anything, and it’s super cheap to air condition. A lot of pluses.

What’s on your reading list?
Too many books to count, actually. I’m way behind on my reading. But I recently went through a biography kick. I read a biography of Leonard Cohen called I’m Your Man. That was pretty cool.

Have you read a lot about ‘60s advertising culture or the ad business in general during your seven seasons on Mad Men?
I did a little bit at first, but Matthew didn’t want us to do too much because he wanted to reveal to us what he wanted us to know. He didn’t want us getting ahead of ourselves.
