Peter C. Horan has been named executive chairman of Halogen, an ad network geared to high-end brand advertisers.
A digital industry veteran, Horan is the former CEO of IAC Media and Advertising. He also served as CEO of About.com prior to its sale to The New York Times in 2005.
Halogen is attempting to differentiate itself from other ad networks by focusing on sites and blogs that reach affluent consumers—something that Horan endorsed. “Halogen will help marketers leverage the true power of online media, the passion sparked when real people connect around genuine interests and experiences,” he said.
In addition to Horan, the company has brought on Brian Eakin, former director of marketing programs at CBS, to serve as vp of digital strategy.
