Yahoo Turns to Print to Fill Key Sales Post

Yahoo is turning to the print world to fill its long-vacant top sales role.

According to Allthingsd.com, the portal is set to install Wayne Powers, who was most recently president of the Time Inc. Media Group, as its new svp, advertising sales for North America.

Powers, who handled corporate sales and marketing for titles such as Time, Fortune, Sports Illustrated and People, will take over a position left vacant when former Yahoo sales chief Joanne Bradford left the company for Demand Media in March.

While a decision was made at that time to leave Bradford’s role open, Yahoo’s upper management has gone through a string of changes. Most recently, the company nabbed former Fox Interactive Media head Ross Levinsohn, to become its evp of the Americas region.

Though primarily a print veteran, Powers is not a complete stranger to digital, having overseen the launch of the Time Inc. Digital Network.
