Matt Bean has been upped to vp of digital product development at Rodale as the company gears up to grow its digital footprint. In his new role, he will guide digital product development and manage digital partnerships for the company in addition to developing the health and fitness publisher’s digital editions of its magazines.
Bean, who previously was associate vp of mobile, social and emerging media, will report to Anthony Astarita, the ex-Barnes & Noble gm and one of the executives behind the Nook who recently joined Rodale as head of a new digital division there.
“Matt is adept at elevating content and adopting new technologies, and I am confident that his talents will set us up for a really strong year and beyond,” Astarita said in an announcement.
The news comes as Rodale is pumping up efforts to increase the digital influence of its brands, which include Men's Health and Prevention. In addition to Astarita's hiring, the company recently inked a new partnership with BermanBraun to create original programming for YouTube, following earlier ones with MSN and Starbucks Digital Network.
