Google, Yahoo Search Partnership DOA

The proposed search partnership between Google and Yahoo is dead, as Google executives elected to terminate the deal on Wednesday (Nov. 5) rather than face a possible prolonged battle with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Suddenly the deal that most in the search media buying community did not want to see come to fruition appears off the table, which immediately opens up the possibility yet again of renewed talks between Microsoft and Yahoo.

In a statement, Yahoo executives indicated that while they were willing to take their case to the courts, it was Google that did not push to defend the deal.
