Daily Beast, Newsweek Merger Off
Struggling Newsweek is back to its new editor search now that weeks-long merger talks with Tina Brown-helmed The Daily Beast have been called off, apparently over which side would have editorial and business control over a combined entity.
“They couldn’t agree on who was going to be calling the shots,” said a source close to the talks. “It was, who would make business and editorial decisions. I would say that was the primary sticking point: Who would basically have full control.”
