Bay Area News Group Expands 'Tags'

Plenty of publications are using mobile phone-enabled “tags” to make their print ads interactive.

Now, San Francisco-area newspaper chain Bay Area News Group (BANG) is taking a media-agnostic approach with the technology. BANG is offering advertisers the chance to use the tags in other marketing materials, whether it be pizza boxes, direct mailings or coffee cups. The advertiser can use the tags to send discounts, event information, store details and the like to consumers’ mobile phones.
