New Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners CEO Ed Brojerdi has reached outside the agency to fill its top creative role.
Dan Kelleher, an executive creative director at Grey in New York, and Jonathan Mackler, a freelance creative director who worked at Figliulo & Partners in New York, are the new co-chief creative officers at kbs+, succeeding Brojerdi and Izzy Debellis, who will exit the agency later this month to take an undisclosed position.
The appointments came just after Brojerdi, who also was president, rose to CEO, succeeding Lori Senecal, who has taken a top role at kbs+ parent company, MDC Partners. Senecal will maintain ties to kbs+, however, as global chairman.
Kelleher spent the last three years as ecd at Grey, working for clients like DirectTV and Ketel One Vodka. As for Mackler, before becoming a freelancer, he spent four years as a creative director at TBWA\Chiat\Day, working on brands like Jameson and Skittles.
"The partner model just works for our culture," said Brojerdi. "These are guys that have truly demonstrated that level of creative excellence that we're shooting for." He added that with their "skill and talent, they're the right fit for the culture."
The agency has preserved its dual creative leadership structure even while it has made a creative executive CEO. In short, Brojerdi's ascension makes sense, given his close ties to BMW, the shop's largest account. Other accounts at the 400-person agency include Simmons, Nike SB and discount retailer The TJX Companies.
