Reader’s Digest Association is making good on its promise of major restructuring after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year.
Despite layoffs late last month, today the news is good at the Reader’s Digest publisher, with Maureen Polo announced as the new VP of Integrated Sales and Marketing for the company’s U.S. Affinities, replacing Mark Wildman as of November 9.
Before joining RDA in 2007, Polo worked in sales for Condé Nast Media Group, Domino and Self, and she started her career at This Old House.
Polo will be working in RDA’s recently created U.S. Affinities division, led by Suzanne Grimes, which combined the company’s Food & Entertaining group with a Home & Garden affinity last month.

Reader’s Digest Promotes Maureen Polo to Vice President of Integrated Sales and Marketing, U.S. Affinities
New York, NY, October 23, 2009 — Reader’s Digest Association announced today that it has promoted Maureen Polo as Vice President of Integrated Sales & Marketing, U.S. Affinities effective November 9. Previously, she was the Managing Director of Integrated Sales and Marketing for the U.S. Affinities. She is replacing Mark Wildman who is leaving the company.
For the past three years Maureen has managed a number of complex, multi-brand, multi-platform integrated programs including the General Mills’ Chex campaign, which she secured. The successful program spans print and online components as well as a recipe contest with Allrecipes.com, Taste of Home and Every Day with Rachael Ray.
“Maureen was instrumental in building our integrated sales and marketing team and we are overjoyed to have Maureen heading it up as vice president,” said Suzanne Grimes, President of U.S. Affinities at Reader’s Digest Association. “She is an industry leader in integrated programs and is a smart, strategic member of our integrated sales and marketing team which has yielded tremendous success since it was launched two years ago.”
Maureen joined the Reader’s Digest in 2007. Previously she worked as part of the Conde Nast media group where she managed more than $55 million in annual print and digital media spending. She was the top performing salesperson in revenue growth in 2006 and generated more than $15 million in new business. Prior to her position at Conde Nast, she held sales development positions at Domino magazine and Self magazine. Maureen started her publishing career at This Old House, a pioneer in integrated media sales, where she sold print, television, on-line and direct mail extensions of the brand. She has won numerous sales awards and was featured in Advertising Age’s 2005 “20 to Watch Under 30″ list.
