In a very well shot web interview, Richard Gere explains movie making and Buddhism to Sally Quinn:

Movies is hard work. I don’t know if you’ve ever been around a set. We were talking about that the other day because we need some extras on this movie. A lot of extras. And we were trying to figure out how to do it as cheaply as possible because we have a very small budget. I said well we better do it in one day–the scenes we need them for–because they are not coming back the next day.
