Capitol_File_DC_600x720The Summer 2014 issue of Capitol File is out just two days after the official start of summer, much to the liking of Washingtonians with a fine art palate. The magazine’s parent company – Niche Media – teamed up with Peter Max, who created an original Capitol File cover to be auctioned on Charitybuzz to benefit the Humane Society of the United States.

In addition to Niche Media’s DC magazine, Max commissioned covers for Boston Common, Gotham, and Hamptons, including several other of its publications.

The one-of-a-kind auction item is a 20 x 24 inch hand-embellished work on paper. After three bids, it’s currently listed at $1,750 for a piece valued at $9,800 and goes through August 6. Twenty five limited-edition 18 x 24 inch signed posters are also available to those who make a $250 donation to the Humane Society of the United States.
