2014 Primetime Emmy Nominees Include Past Winners Claire Danes and Julia Louis-Dreyfus

59th_Primetime_Emmys_logo-2Nominees for the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, with “Washington (or its television portrayal)” represented quite nicely.

2013 winner Claire Danes for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series is again nominated as Carrie Mathison on “Homeland” against Robin Wright as Claire Underwood on “House Of Cards” and GW grad Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope on “Scandal.” Kevin Spacey was nominated as Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for his portrayal of Francis Underwood on “House Of Cards.”

Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays Vice President Selina Meyer on the HBO series, earned a nod in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series category, which she took in 2013.

National Geographic’s “Killing Kennedy” is among five nominees for Outstanding Television Movie.
