Cut the Rope creator ZeptoLab announced the release of Om Nom Toons on iOS and Android. The videostreaming application allows users to watch episodes from the Om Nom Stories video series, as well as videos from “selected partners.”
The Om Nom Stories series follows the adventures of Cut the Rope’s main character, a friendly green monster named Om Nom. In addition to these videos, the app offers video tutorials for drawing Om Nom and other “Nommies” characters. Om Nom Toons was designed to be safe for kids, so users “won’t see anything inappropriate while watching cartoons.”
In a statement, Misha Lyalin, CEO of ZeptoLab, commented:
Cartoons were always a big part of Cut the Rope. We wanted to explore Om Nom’s background beyond the game, so we created Om Nom Stories, webisodes that are shown between levels, as a way to tell players more about the origins of this adorable creature. The animation series became very popular, and soon it was evident that Om Nom outgrew the boundaries of Cut the Rope games and became a well-known character on his own. Naturally, we decided to expand Om Nom Stories’ success, and animation became an important area of ZeptoLab’s work. Today we have more than 1.7 billion views on YouTube and from the game itself, as well as about 500 million views in more than one-dozen video-on-demand platforms.
