Virgin Mobile USA Sells 400k Ringbacks in 3 Months
In just three months after launching the service, Virgin Mobile USA is crowing that it’s already sold more than 400,000 ringback tones, Mobile Entertainment reports.
More than 100,000 customers use the ringback service, which replaces the sound callers hear while waiting for the phone to be answered with a song snippet. LiveWire Mobile, a division of NMS, hosts the service and has some 10,000 ringbacks available for download.
The most popular categories for ringback tones among Virgin Mobile customers are R&B and hip-hop.
