If you were tweeting great things about your new book, yesterday might not have been a great day to do it. Aside from being the Fourth of July, it also marked the day in which Google’s partnership with Twitter for real time search results ended. In other words, those live tweets that you can see in Google search results have disappeared.
Google tweeted the news yesterday: “We’ve temporarily disabled google.com/realtime. We’re exploring how to incorporate Google+ into this functionality, so stay tuned.”
Google let the deal lapse in order to focus more on Google + 1, Google’s new social networking tool. Search Engine Land got this statement from Google: “Our vision is to have google.com/realtime include Google+ information along with other realtime data from a variety of sources.”
It may be time to start posting about your book in Google +1. GalleyCat has more about writers need to know about Google + 1.
