SingleGrain has published a new infographics with very interesting statistics related to Social Gaming and its usage. The Infographics takes a look at who is playing social games, which games they are playing and how the social gaming companies generate revenue.
According to the Infographics, 20% of Americans have played social games at least once, out of these 35% have never played any other types of video games in their lives. By the year 2012, 68.7 million Americans are estimated to play social games. That’s nearly the population of Iran. Interestingly, 55% of the social gamer are females.
With 90 million players, Zynga’s CityVille is the biggest social game on Facebook. FarmVille is the second biggest social game played by 43 million people and 1 in every 5 Facebook users. Virtual farmer of “FarmVille” has actually outnumbered real farmers in the U.S. by a ratio of 80 to 1. FarmVille was also used to promote Lady Gaga‘s new album, “Born This Way.”
