Facebook’s share of social referral traffic fell slightly in the third quarter of 2014 but the platform still accounts for more than one in five of every social website visit, reports Shareaholic.
Facebook generated 22.36 percent of social media traffic referrals in September 2014, down from June’s 23.39 percent, but up almost 12 full percentage points year-on-year, for a net gain of 115.63 percent.
Pinterest maintained second place amongst social networks with a 5.52 percent share. This was also down marginally from June’s 5.72 percent, but up more than 50 percent overall year-on-year.
Twitter, meanwhile, saw its share of the social referral pie fall to a 13-month low, registering just 0.88 percent of referrals in September.
Only Facebook, Pinterest and Google+ have seen an overall gain in their social referrals since September 2013.
