Do you consider yourself an early adopter amongst your peers? Perhaps you frequently post photos and share thoughts about products and services that you’ve tried. Maybe you’re the sort of person who actually influences friends and family into buying the things that you buy.
If your answer to any of these queries is yes, you’re far from alone. A new study from The Webby Awards has revealed the extent to which each share product and service information with friends and how that shapes our buying decisions.
The findings in a nutshell:
- 56 percent of American adults aged 18-44 have been the first in their circle to try a new product or service *
- 45 percent post photos or thoughts about a new product they’ve tried
- 6 out of 10 people buy products based on friends’ social media posts
- 7 out of 10 people expect what they share to shape others’ perception and say their perceptions are shaped by what others share
