Sinead O’Connor Has Facebook Meltdown, Cries Out for Help

Facebook doesn't take "seven hours and 15 days." Good thing for her.

Children of today have Miley, Britney, and Nicki. They’re fine, but they’ve got nothing on the starlets of the ’80s and early ’90s. These are the divas that make present spotlight hounds look like homeless refrigerator box dwellers.

Among the top of the list for Gen-Xers is Sinead O’Connor.

From canceling her very first ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance because of Andrew Dice Clay to finally getting on the show and ripping a picture of the Pope in half, the Irish songstress was always in the ire of paparazzi and fans.

Following a song penned by another enigma, Prince, O’Connor became an instant success with the haunting video (yes kids, music videos were a thing once on MTV) of Nothing Compares 2 U. The song is known as one of the best songs of the 1990s; yet, after the video was over, she seemed to fade into obscurity (and a smattering of overnight fast-food joints).

There has been an awful Sinead O’Connor sighting via her Facebook page over the weekend. It’s TL;DR so feel free to bookmark this post following what is provided below.

(Dear Facebook: This is why you have needed a “dislike” button.)

That notwithstanding, it is clear this was a vociferous cry for help — one that seemed to spark because of her battle with Donal Lunny for custody of their 11-year-old son, Shane.

Visceral. Depressing. Heartbreaking. Real. And what seemed to be the culmination of a few dark decades for her.

She has told Oprah that suicide was attempted before and she’s also bipolar. Social media has also been used previously to search for help, as noted in 2012 when she tweeted the need for a psychiatrist. And now this. Fortunately, for those who would be interested, she’s been “found safe and sound” and is getting help.

Thinking of Oprah, now would be the perfect time for the life coach to sit her down and tell her that “Nothing compares… to you.” No one should have to go through tragedy alone. Maybe this rush of PR will bring her some help.
