Following the launch of SimCity BuildIt on iOS and Android devices just one month ago, EA Mobile has released details about the game’s first three weeks in the wild. The city-building game allows users to build their dream metropolis, constructing its roads, businesses, industrial and residential sectors, as well as adding specialties to the town, like a focus on education or transportation. The game was downloaded more than 15.5 million times in its first three weeks of release, which works out to 725,000 new users each day, or 30,000 every hour.
Those 15.5 million players have turned out to be pretty loyal as well, with over 648 million individual gameplay sessions logged since the game’s launch. So far, players have spent more than 8,300 years of time with the game, in total.
SimCity BuildIt users are required to keep their city running with power plants, garbage disposal facilities and more. It turns out, users are “going green,” and aren’t satisfied with polluting the lives of their virtual citizens, even if green energy sources are more expensive. Users have constructed 29 million wind and solar power plants, versus 15 million coal and oil plants.
