Hey Rihanna fans! This week Doritos unveiled an awesome new augmented reality, 360-degree Rihanna music video experience. The only catch is, if you wanna see it you gotta go out and buy a bag of chips.

The Rihanna video is the latest addition to the Doritos Late Night experience – a collection of musical performances from around the globe, which viewers can watch in 360 degrees, clicking to move around the screen in any direction and double-clicking to move in and out. It’s a really cool technology and makes the viewer feel like they are actually inside the music video, and is definitely worth checking out!

The Doritos Late Night website features 360-degree videos from several bands around the globe, including Professor Green from London, Teargas from Johannesburg, Mor Ve Otesi from Istanbul, Down With Webster from Toronto and Sensacional Orchestra Sonora from Sao Paulo. However, Rihanna is by far the biggest star to perform in the virtual world of Doritos Late Night. Rihanna’s musical collaboration with Doritos is supposed to be a totally out-of-this-world experience, like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The song is “Who’s That Chick?” by David Guetta, featuring Rihanna, and the video is supposed to show off Rihanna’s unique personality for her fans.

Unlike the other 360-degree performances on the site, the Rihanna experience takes augmented reality to the next level and not only allows fans to watch the video in a night or a day setting, but to also control the way they experience the music video by the way that they hold up and move a bag of Doritos Late Night special-edition chips, making the viewer experience unique and different for each viewer.

Unfortunately, you’ve got to have a bag of special-edition chips to watch Rihanna’s video at all, at this point. I think this is a fantastic way to get people to buy Doritos, and if I could find a bad I’d definitely get one just to see Rihanna’s augmented reality experience. Unfortunately, here in Israel where I live we don’t have Doritos Late Night chips, but here’s hoping that the video will be made available to the general public soon! If you’ve got a bag of chips and are able to watch the video, please let us know about your experience in the comments!
