Pinterest continues to march toward a valid and sustainable business model. Today, the startup darling announced two new tools for businesses, including DIY promoted pins and improved analytics.
In addition to continuing the paid tests of Promoted Pins in search and category feeds, Pinterest is adding a do-it-yourself, cost-per-click option. The goal is to enable business of any size to use Promoted Pins and leverage the power of Pinterest to drive traffic back to their websites.
There’s currently a small test group for DIY Promoted Pins, but in the interest of getting as much feedback as possible, Pinterest is asking businesses to sign up and participate.
At the request of its business customers, the platform has also updated its analytics tool to help businesses decide which Pins are most effective.
“In addition to seeing what people are Pinning from your website, you’ll also be able to see how Pins from your Pinterest profile are performing,” said the announcement. “We’ll tell you which of your Pins and boards are driving the most impressions, clicks and repins. We’ll also clue you in to Pins that drive engagement across different platforms.”
The new analytics tool is being rolled out slowly to make sure things are working properly, but all business accounts should have access “soon.”
