Peter Kreisky Named Senior Advisor at Time Inc.

Time Inc. CEO Jack Griffin, on board just a couple of weeks, is starting to make his mark.
Griffin appointed veteran publishing consultant Peter Kreisky as a senior advisor. Griffin built a reputation for evolving Meredith from a publisher into a full-service marketer, and Kreisky, who previously has had roles at McKinsey & Co. and Boston Consulting Group, seems to have been brought on to help Time Inc. beef up its magazines digitally.  
Meanwhile, Time Inc., like all publishers facing softening ad revenue, is stepping up efforts to grow consumer-paid content. Steve Sachs, whom Ann Moore appointed to head up consumer marketing before she handed the CEO reins to Griffin, is looking to hire an svp of digital marketing and business development to help manage paid content and digital distribution and create a digital subscription model—among the functions previously handled by Monica Ray, who defected to Condé Nast over the summer.
“This is an important time for Time Inc. in this arena,” Sachs said in an internal memo. “We are creating guidelines and company-wide standards that will shape our dealings with external partners and the way our content is distributed and enjoyed by our consumers. These guidelines include our digital subscription model, as we work to continue to add value to our relationships with consumers and allow them to access our content across many platforms.”
Sachs already named Ken Fuchs to the new role of vp of emerging platforms business development. Fuchs had been vp, general manager of the Sports Illustrated Digital Group, whose sales function was recently taken over by Time Warner corporate sibling Turner Sports in a partnership aimed at growing SI’s digital ad sales.
Fuchs’ appointment was part of a broader reorg by Sachs last week that eliminated eight vp director-level jobs. A spokesperson said Sachs would be expanding his headcount by 20, though, for a net gain of 12. Among those gone in the shuffle were John Reese, whose wife, Jennifer Ogden-Reese, also works in consumer marketing and was promoted to svp, style and entertainment.
