Arizona continues to deal with fallout from the passage of its new immigration bill, SB 1070. The bill, which goes into effect July 29, makes it a state crime to be in the country illegally.
Now, the state is considering spending up to $280,000 on PR to counteract bad press.
A tourism “task force” recommended to Gov. Jan Brewer this week that the state, “hire a public-relations firm to develop and disseminate a fact sheet on the law,” according to the Arizona Republic.
President Obama gave a speech on immigration reform today, and referred to the Arizona law as, “a source of fresh contention.”
