Pan Macmillan Australia Launches Digital-Only Imprint

The Australian branch of Macmillan announced this week that it launched its first digital-only imprint, Momentum.

Momentum will be run by Tom Gilliatt, the director of Pan Macmillan Australia, and the list will be managed by publisher Joel Naoum. It is going to publish titles from both new and established authors, and it will also work with authors to re-publish their out-of-print back list.  The eBooks are going to be available globally, with the first ones coming out in February 2012.

Tom Gilliatt had this to say on the eve of the launch: “The growing Australian and global market for ebooks opens up major opportunities for publishers and authors. Momentum, with its digital-only focus, is a hugely exciting new venture that’s been created to capitalise on these opportunities.”

Momentum has already lined up a number of authors for the February launch, including John Birmingham, Andy Griffiths, Rusty Young, and Liz Byrski. Eahc will be releasing at least 1 new title under the imprint.
