Oceanhouse Media, the app publishing company that has released a slew of Dr. Seuss books as apps, has partnered with Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books for the digital release of The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library book series.
While Oceanhouse’s Dr. Seuss apps have primarily been aimed at toddlers, with this latest round of book apps Oceanhouse is going after the kids five and older. To do so, they have incorporated some interactive features that appeal to an older audience. For instance, a reader can click on a word to look up a definition, which will appear in the center of the screen. In the above video, you can see this being demonstrated, as the reader looks up the word “Sun” in the book app edition of There’s No Place Like Space!. (The Dr. Seuss interplanetary classic is, in fact, the first release in the series and is currently available at the introductory price of $3.99).
