The first reports of an automated firmware update for the Nook, to version 1.1.0 came last night (from Teleread) and early today (from Liz Daly). The general report is that the buggy firmware is not much improved, but there are a few fixes, including slightly faster page turns, but still no way to jump to a specific location in a book.
Most folks are reported many of the same problems and maybe some new ones. Daly reports her documents changed folders during the upgrade. Gizmodo says “It feels like not much has changed.” And there was much update-bashing on Twitter.
Kudos to Barnes & Noble for acting sort of fast to at least produce an update after last week’s complaints, but still not the PR the company needs to save face, or screen, or screens.
