The iPhone may only be heading towards it fourth birtday, but Nike’s Nike+ is turning five years old. Nike temporarily dropped the price of its iPhone app from $1.99 to free as party of the anniversary.
The Nike+ GPS app does not need the shoe sensor that was designed to work with early versions of the iPod nano. It can record your pace, measure distance run and track your route. Voice feedback is available during a run as is a map with your current location.
You can share your running data with the community on the Nike+ site as well as Facebook and Twitter.
Note that you will need a relatively recent generation iOS device to use with the app. The Nike+ GPS app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch (2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations) running iOS 4.0 or later.
