Nickelodeon is coming for your children

Taking a page from the Big Tobacco playbook, Big Kids’ Programming, in the cuddly guise of Nick Jr., is trying to capture young audiences as early, and in as many ways, as possible. The children’s programmer has announced plans to premiere elements of its newest animated series, “Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!,” on your preschooler’s cell phone, laptop, and video iPod in advance of its broadcast launch in August.

But, hey, maybe this is a good thing. If you’ve already set your four-year-old up with a monogrammed Razr phone, goth-black MacBook, and radio-signal-receiving headgear, then maybe you were looking for some “me” time anyway. With little Nick Jr. ensconced in his lush chamber of digital madness, soaking up “The Wubbcast” like Alex in A Clockwork Orange, think of all the extra time you’ll have to work on your friendships and marriage via Blackberry.
