Newsweek‘s Mark Hosenball, the investigative ying to Isikoff‘s yang, breaks what could be big, scary news: Three men arrested in London may have been plotting to blow up the U.S. Capitol, the White House and other targets with homemade bombs. Lovely.
Officials aren’t sure how advanced such a plot might be, or if it was just in the discussion phase, but they’re taking it seriously: “Officials in both countries are concerned, however, that the suspects could be part of a terror network stretching from the United States to Britain to Bosnia.”
Obviously we will see how this one develops. Big story broken at 5:24 pm on Friday; I’m sure we’ll be following up on Monday. Query how this impacts Bush’s “Bad Week.”
Target Washington? [Newsweek]
By the way, we’ve categorized this under “Magazines” because it’s Newsweek, even though they broke it on the Newsweek website which is technically “New Media.” Pedantic point, true, but a great example of what Jim Kelly was trying to explain to Jon Stewart way back when.
