Motricity Returning to Platform Roots

Some significant changes are afoot at Motricity. According to a report in Fierce Mobile Content, the mobile platform provider is cutting 250 jobs and moving across the country, from North Carolina to Seattle, as part of a major restructuring effort.

Many of the changes are due to its acquisition of InfoSpace’s mobile business in October, but others are the result of ditching new business ideas that failed to take off.

Motricity president and COO Steve Elfman told Fierce Mobile Content that the company will once again focus on getting carriers to adopt its mCore platform to power their mobile portals, storefronts, managed Web and search services.
