Mobile Video: Lots of Room for Growth

Speaking at the NAPTE Mobile++ conference in Las Vegas on Monday, M:Metrics senior analyst Mark Donovan told attendees that the mobile TV and video market “has been puttering along for several years,” having been “hampered with really poor quality,” RCRWireless News reports.

Donovan sees the potential for that to change thanks to greater availability and adoption of 3G networks. He told the audience that there’s still a huge US market of consumers who’ve never even seen someone else watching video on a mobile phone.

According to new figures from the mobile market research firm, only 9.2 million US mobile users watched some form of video on their phone in November, and that’s up 60% over the beginning of 2007.
