The idea is that the new application let people with 3rd party eReaders, like a Sony eReader for instance, use Kobo to buy and download content. The app supports both Windows and Mac operating systems and can be downloaded for free by following this link. Like other Kobo reading apps, the Kobo Desktop app lets users customize font, style and size and includes a bookmarking tool.

Kobo currently has apps for the iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android and Android Tablets. Users can use the desktop app to sync across platforms.
