Courtesy of Fishbowl NY, the HBO marketing team’s sassy ploy of placing a fake ad in Variety touting the $116 million opening weekend of Aquaman–the fake blockbuster from its Hollywood show, Entourage–finally has a victim: Joe Kernan of CNBC. In his box office report detailing the record-breaking bow of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Kernan references the Aquaman digits as if they were real. Somehow this just mkes us want to take HBO’s marketing department out for sushi.
And we swear we actually hear a female voice in the studio laugh at the mistake just a few seconds after he says it. What do you think?
