Remember back in 2011 when Sgt Scott Moore invited Mila Kunis to the Marine Corps Ball on YouTube and started a chain reaction of marines asking celebrities, from Justin Timberlake to Betty White for dates? This week, high school student Jake Davidson is using the same tactic to get Kate Upton, model and cat daddy-extraordinaire, to go with him to his senior prom.
In a YouTube video that has racked up just over 20,000 views since being uploaded over the weekend, Jake explains, “You had me at hello, you’re the yin to my yang. I’m Jewish, 5’9 on a really good day and I can’t dance…at all. You’re Christian, 5’10, and that Cat Daddy video should’ve won an Oscar for best short film. You could say this is destiny.”
Personally, as amusing as these videos are, I think it’s a little unfair for average joes to call out celebrities like this on YouTube. When the whole internet is rallied around the person that’s asking the celebrity out, supporting them and putting pressure on the celeb to say “yes,” it unfairly makes the celebrity look like a jerk if they say no.
Jake’s prom is May 23, 2013. Do you think Kate Upton should join him? Check out his video below and let us know what you think!
Update: On March 19, 2013, Upton told Jake via Twitter, “How could I turn down that video! I’ll check my schedule ;)”
