Paul Caine moved quickly to fill the publisher gap at Entertainment Weekly and EW.com, naming Karin Tracy to head the publication. The move was triggered by Jason Wagenheim's departure, announced a few days ago, to become publisher of Condé Nast’s Glamour.
Tracy comes from Time Inc.’s People StyleWatch, the fast-growing celebrity fashion spinoff of People, where she was named a first-time publisher in February 2010. Her predecessor there, Michelle Myers, coincidentally also left for Condé Nast. Tracy's successor at StyleWatch hasn't been named yet.
Tracy is the latest in a string of people to hold the EW publisher job in recent years. Still, the 1.8 million-circulation weekly has gotten notice for its "Must List" iPad app and unusual ad units like a CBS video player. Caine, who is chief revenue officer of the Time Inc. Style and Entertainment Group, said he expected that momentum to continue under Tracy.
