John Hughes Named Exec VP at AMI’s Radar Online

John Hughes has been named executive vp/business development of American Media’s Radar Online, the recently-launched reincarnation of the twice-failed magazine.

A seasoned media industry veteran, Hughes was most recently focused on running several technology startups, including Clashorama, a site which enables users to view and compare multiple videos at once. At Radar Online, Hughes will handle all the day-to-day business operations of Radaronline.com, including business development, sales and marketing.

Hughes’ hire marks the start of his second tenure working for American Media president and CEO David Pecker, who previously ran Hachette Filipacchi Media. Hughes spent six years at Hachette as senior vp for business affairs and special projects.

Pecker indicated that one of Hughes’ first projects might be helping Radar push into the TV world. “It’s great to have John back on board with us,” he said. “We are already being inundated with proposals to migrate the Radar Online brand into television and John’s expertise at handling these types of negotiations will be invaluable.”
