The surge in smartphone and tablet usage has benefited some social networks more than others in terms of usage of their applications.
GlobalWebIndex found that Facebook led the way in February, with 55 percent of its active user base accessing its app.
Facebook was followed by:
- YouTube, 47 percent
- Instagram, 46 percent
- Twitter, 43 percent
- Google+, 39 percent
- Pinterest, 19 percent
- Tumblr, 16 percent
GWI said in an email to SocialTimes:
That Facebook is ahead of the pack despite having the oldest age profile of any of the networks tracked in our chart is particularly important — indicating it’s the one that’s still most embedded inside our daily networking behaviors, and hence the one we are still most likely to access when out-and-about via our mobile.
