Hulu Plus Sort of Available for Android Phones: Hello Android Fragmentation

Android is finally getting streaming video services in 2011. Netflix appeared earlier. And, this week it is Hulu’s turn.

Unfortunately, only six Android phones are listed as fully tested and capable of running the app: Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Droid II, Motorola Droid X, and the Motorola Atrix. Note that no Android tablet is listed as compatible. And, anyone who has compared watching long form video programs on a phone and a tablet (iPad) can tell you, the tablet user is the real target audience. As a commentor (HokieFace) on Hulu’s blog noted: Nexus One, but no Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Motorola Xoom, Seriously?

Meanwhile, according to the LA Times blog, Hulu is offering itself up for sale and Yahoo appears to be interested.
