Google’s rumored iPad mobile aggregation app has been discussed since September while Yahoo!’s Livestand was announced way back in February. All Things D reports that both Livestand and Propeller are expected to be available for the iPad and Android tablets (the latter in the case of Propeller).

However, Yahoo’s Livestand.com website does not give any indication of either a launch date or even a social news aggregation aspect. In fact, it looks more like an aggregator for conventional news sources. Google’s Propeller (it may also be named “Currents”) will probably draw from the RSS news feed social sharing feature that Google is moving from Google Reader to Google+.

This may provide to be somewhat more like the very popular Flipboard for iPad than Yahoo!’s Livestand. However, Propeller will be less compelling unless it is able to collect news links from Facebook and Twitter as Flipboard does.
